Diagnosed with a Brain Tumour
After being diagnosed with a brain tumour, I started planning my funeral with the Funeral Directors Essex co-operative had. They weren’t sure if they would be able to operate or not but at the moment, it was starting to press on my optic nerve so I thought that if I left the arrangements too late then I wouldn’t even be able to see the coffin I would be buried in, or the head stone I wanted. I didn’t have the time to learn Braille either. I wanted to organise a party for the wake, too. Before my grandfather had died, he always said “you can’t spell funeral without fun” and I held that with me during his passing. Somehow it made the whole thing easier to imagine that he could see us having fun at his wake and I wanted the same for mine. The last thing I wanted was for my family to be upset.
